Animals was tracked during one magical week in Austin, Texas. It was cut to two-inch tape at Eastern Sun Studios and engineered by Matt Simon (Voxtrot, Tele Novella).

Animals was mixed and mastered by Chris Harden (The Pod, Ike Reilly Assassination) at IV Lab Studios in Chicago, IL, home of Umphreys McGee, Fallout Boy, Billy Corgan, Rachel Yamagata, Plain White T's, and many other greats.

We had access to many special instruments, amps, percussion, and noise making equipment in Austin and Chicago. Notable inclusions on Animals include : Yamaha CP-80, Wurlitzer, Leslie 300, Tone King Meteor 40, Nash Tele, Realistic MG-1 mono synth, and The Raven.

Bifunkal is a two-piece band based in Chicago that believes in live looping, vocal bass, and the power of rock.

Bifunkal is Hershyl Edwards (drums, vocal bass, loops, vox) and Jesse Crydeman (guitar, loops, vox). Hershyl is a unique bird, in that he sings the bass lines (into an octave pedal) while playing drums. Sometimes he even loops the vocal bass, and then sings--all while playing drums. ... more
